You Can't Take the Ohio Out of the Girl
Volunteering
One of the volunteer positions with the SPCA that I signed up for is “Pet Food Express.” I will be bringing pet food to home bound senior citizens with furbabies. Occasionally transporting their pet to the clinic for a checkup is part of it too. What a precious opportunity. I love this!

I wouldn’t mind a donation to a sloth sanctuary in lieu of a birthday gift…The Sloth Sanctuary in Costa Rica needs help!
With almost 150 Sloths in their care, The Sloth Sanctuary is reaching capacity and needs to release more rescued animals back into the wild. In order to ensure these animals are thriving, biologist Rebecca Cliffe is raising money for GPS tracking…
SMU Graduation Weekend
I’m so proud of my husband. Somehow he managed to graduate with honors from the Executive MBA program while traveling constantly for work, maintaining his status as the sweetest husband in the world, and moving our lives across the country. He excels at many things, and balancing multiple priorities is one of them.
It was a fun and bittersweet weekend in Dallas. We are so excited that the program is over, but yet we are not! He really enjoyed the classes, the challenges, and the people. And because it’s done, we don’t have any specific reason to go back to Dallas. His graduation cut our ties in a way. We don’t HAVE to go back, but we WILL, because we sure do miss our friends. I was sad to realize we don’t have a set date to return for anything in particular, and I don’t know when I will see them again. When you live far away from everyone who is important to you, traveling is constant. I guess I have to add Dallas to the regular rotation of visits because it sucks saying goodbye to people I used to see weekly.
Happy and sad.
I love the old fashioned splendor of The Adolphus. It’s fun to stay here since we don’t live in Dallas anymore. I will miss our wedding anniversary dinners at The French Room, that is for sure. Maybe we will fly in for a special anniversary.
We are buying a house in Orlando, finally.
We have been looking since last August, initially with trips to town, and later after we moved here. We really only liked 2 houses in all that time. This house is not either of those, haha, but I think it is meant to be. It is in a part of town we weren’t sold on at first, but really just a few minutes and side streets from where we had hoped to be. Also, the same new construction square footage lists at roughly double the price in our initially desired area. Again, which is only minutes away from where we will be living. Double the price to live 5 streets over? That is ridiculous, because it’s not Malibu, it’s Central freakin’ Florida. It’s just not worth the money. I think this is the best decision for us financially and in terms of our current situation. We may only be here for 3 years, or we may be here for the long term. It is yet to be determined. So. I’m excited! And I’m thankful that my husband agrees and we will have a lovely roof over our heads for the duration of our time in Florida.
We sign the contract tomorrow at the house. :)
