Today, in laziness.
I went to the gym on my way from lunch with a friend. I stripped down to change into workout gear, and realized I forgot to pack a sports bra. So I redressed, drove 2 short blocks to my house, where I am now lounging with Coco and watching Dr. Oz rather that grabbing a sports bra and returning to the gym. Only 2 blocks away. My laziness kicked in over the course of only 2 blocks. Well, in my...

I live in a parallel universe
where I am simultaneously a person who has family members that can’t afford health insurance and a person attempting to buy a wedding gift from a registry that contains an $1850 covered vegetable dish. I think ya invited the wrong gal, people!

I have an appointment with an ENT at 1:00.
I’m going to ask him, in all seriousness, to look in there and tell me if I’ve had a sinus infection for 3 years. Because that’s what it has felt like. My PCP just isn’t cutting it when it comes to my sinuses anymore, and it’s time for some intervention. Hopefully I won’t need another surgery (I had one in 1998), but I’ve heard the results only last so...

Top Executive MBA Programs of 2011: A Changing of... →
I joined Matt yesterday after his classes for a reception about this year’s Bloomberg ranking. SMU, moving on up. We are so fortunate that he is having this experience. It’s a huge undertaking, school on top of work (for which he travels generally weekly), but he is loving it. I’m proud of him. One semester down, 5 to go.

I have 9 lives like a cat!
Made it through another layoff. And everyone in my territory did too. DFW is a medical hub so it’s generally not as bad here. Phew, though. Although the industry has changed, it’s always nice to have choices. So I’m thankful.

Just got the sweetest text from my former boss...
Even if the industry has changed for the worse, the people are always great. That is what makes these regular shakeups so tough. Every 18 mos or so in pharma, you see really good people put into an unthinkable situation. No income. For married folks with two incomes, it’s maybe not as hard. But I have some dear friends who are single with a house payment, or married with kids and their...

My company announced layoffs this morning via...
There was a followup conference call at noon, and we will get a call between 9-11 am tomorrow with our employment status. I’ve been fortunate to make it through 4 layoffs/reorgs in my 8 and 1/2 year career. Pharmaceutical sales has changed so much in this short time. Change has always been expected, but it’s not the same job I was excited to begin in 2003. So we’ll see what...

Sunday night
was spent drinking St. Arnold Winter Stout (anything from this Texas brewery is delish), cooking almond flour crusted chicken/Mediterranean veggies/garlic couscous, and shopping on Etsy.com. If I order one more owl item while drinking, someone take the computer away. Not the beer, the computer.

This damn left shoulder of mine.
I went back to physical therapy today. Just one session to learn some new exercises since clearly the previous ones weren’t helping/made my shoulder worse. This injury has been plaguing me since the beginning of October. One x-ray, one contrast MRI, one contrast CT, 2 cortisone shots and countless physical therapy sessions later….it still is not better. And my orthopedic surgeon is...

The first day of 2012
has been spent sleeping in, walking the dogs in the sunshine, lunching, and resting off last night’s celebratory activities. We watched Midnight in Paris, which was good. Now my husband is napping beside me on the couch, waiting for the Cowboys game. A relaxing beginning to a new year.
