I feel so weird after today.
I keep wondering what all those people we served are doing right now while I sit in my warm house. It was like another planet where we went. Except it’s right in the backyard of a city with tons of wealth.
Okay, we are done volunteering.
I think next time I will stay at SoupMobile headquarters and continue making bags. Feeding was a little bit out of my comfort zone. It was an experience, that much I can say.
Went to a sandwich making party tonight at a...
Wine and goodies and gossip was enjoyed by all. I think we made about 163 ham sandwiches. Tomorrow is a volunteer day with our company, so instead of working, we are heading down to South Dallas (ironically, my sales territory) to feed the homeless.
D Magazine : Dallas' Puppy Problem →
I’m thankful for this article in the otherwise astonishingly superficial D Magazine. AWARENESS, pretty people of Dallas. Let it wash over you.
Thanksgiving 2011 for the Levines
Matt accepted an invitation to a grad school friend’s house for dinner, since we are not making our usual pilgrimage to the New York family this year. Attending the dinner will be his buddy and his buddy’s parents. And us, now. Awkward? Maybe. Oh, also they are not serving turkey, but prime rib. Yeah, I thought turkey was a given on turkey day too. And black forest ham in their...

That “turn” thing I was talking about?
Hey-o.
The major problem with this weather is that it makes me hate my dogs, and they didn’t do anything to me except for look cute and need to pee in a place that is not my floor.
But anyway.
Cold weather does have its benefits, and one major one is…

“Khanh and Steph just had two puppies dumped in their front yard…. both adorable little females, we think they are 8-10 weeks old little pittie mixes. We’d like to keep them together for a few weeks, will provide everything, puppy pen, food, potty pads, etc. After a few weeks we will want to separate them so will need another foster home as well.

Somehow a discussion about animal rescue turned...
At physical therapy, which is a weird venue for such discussions anyway. Some people really don’t get it. Somehow I believe a comparison was attempted between the two subjects when some guy said, “What people don’t understand is that animals are not human and sometimes animals just die.” Huh. Well, um. Pets are not supposed to be in such a situation, such as running...

According to Glamour Magazine, West Hollywood has just become the first city in the US to ban the sale of fur, starting in 2013. Any stores that violate this law will receive fines. Congrats on catching up to the majority of other countries!

Wow, this is great! I hope other cities follow suit, like tacky Dallas.

California is an amazing sight to these sore eyes.
I mean, I work in the slums of Dallas every day. This desert beauty is awesome. And the weather just made me smile really really big.
You know how after you exit the X-ray machine at...
The TSA agent had to pat down the top/back of my hair. Only. Must be my big Texas hair.
Alright, time to get moving...
Leaving for Palm Springs in a few hours!
Taking vacation time today and tomorrow.
Today is for physical therapy, an appointment with my orthopedic surgeon to check on my shoulder, an energy audit on our old house, a mani/pedi, and packing. Tomorrow is for flying to Palm Springs for the weekend!
I just finished 2 days of sales meetings.
I’m drinking wine and eating cheese. Duh.

Someone broke into the local Humane Society this weekend and stole cash registers and donation counters and broke doors and drawers.
Listen, I know that we are in a recession and so people are desperate and/or flooded with illegal pain pills and so people are desperate, but…

The second worst thing after people being idiots at the gas station is people who leave their purses in their shopping carts and wander away. My mom’s friend lost her purse and all its contents, car keys, house keys, wallet, cell phone, etc, etc, just this way.
