Thoughts...
- This wildfire in Colorado is very sad. - Girls is actually an entertaining show. Huh. - I’d like this cold to go away so I can trade my evening camomile tea for red wine. - Actually, I’d like to remember to take a pregnancy test in the morning for once, so I can confidently enjoy a Skelaxin for my damn shoulder/neck area along with that glass of red wine. (I don’t...

There's A Battle Of Two Wolves Inside Us All
alanajoy: An old Cherokee told his grandson: “My son, there’s a battle between two wolves inside us all. One is Evil. It’s anger, jealousy, greed, resentment, inferiority, lies and ego. The other is Good. It’s joy, peace, love, hope, humility, kindness and truth.” The boy thought about it and asked: “Grandfather, which wolf wins?”. The old man quietly replied: “The one you feed.”

ERCOT is already asking Texans to conserve on air...
I turned my thermostats up to 78 degrees, per their recommendation. My husband says I will likely be the only person to abide, and therefore we will still probably have blackouts. I sure hope not! It’s supposed to be 106 tomorrow.

So this Bragg's Apple Cider Vinegar is really...
Try 2 tablespoons with honey and lemon in a cup of hot tea (I used green, but you may like others).  I only had it twice yesterday (not sure if you can have too much…) and drank plain old tea the rest of the day, but I swear it’s the vinegar that’s making me healthy.  At least that’s what I read on a whole host of blogs about the stuff.  Apparently it’s a miracle cure...

I'm crying watching the Dallas episodes I...
It could just be my awful cold, but it’s probably the song, the skyline…I am so sentimental about this place. I grew and changed so much here. From a 23 year old naive small town Ohio girl to a somewhat jaded, but smarter, and more well rounded adult. Lots of life lessons, lots of fun, lots of hard work. I used to hate the arrogance of people acting like Texas was the best state in...

Let it go
I soak up other people’s energy like a sponge. When it’s positive, I like that it affects me…when it’s negative, I wish that I had a hard shell that it would bounce off of. I can’t stop energy from coming in, good or bad. I might need to just listen to a Baptiste podcast even if I can’t do the poses. I miss my daily zen.

Oh my gosh, that was so nice.
I had never done restorative yoga before. Essentially we just moved around on the floor and stretched. There was about zero shoulder involvement. I feel more open, which was the goal.

Animal Stuff
On Tuesday morning I had an informational interview with the VP of Development for the SPCA of Texas.  She was so kind and generous with her time, and she gave me tons of great information about getting started in the non-profit sector, and about the SPCA of Texas specifically.  Did you know that the sad Sarah McLachlan commercials are for one specific group in New York?  I was under the...

I'm pretty sure I could conquer the 6 pound Big...
My husband doubts me. He says I could do a bean and cheese nachos challenge, but that the rice in the burrito would stop me. Now I want to show him up. I will eat that 6 pound burrito. Someday, I will show him. Do not doubt my stomach distending abilities. Also, I would be great at a pizza challenge. I eat it almost every day. I have mad room for pizza dough in my belly.

Back in Dallas
I’m tired, so happy for Brie & Ben, glad that I had some time with other Ohio girlfriends last night too, and grateful for my ever accommodating parents. It was a good weekend.

I believe my little sister is in love.
And I hope it is love, not just infatuation. It’s early, so time will tell. But he sounds like a good one. I will meet him in August, when we visit Chicago, if indeed it is love and still blossoming. He is an organic farmer. She is a talented and fearless cook. He might just be her match. :)

SUCH GOOD NEWS
Last Sunday one of our foster moms was in a car accident and her back window blew out. Domino and Jolie, her foster doggies who are both under 10 pounds, escaped and ran away from the accident. This was in an area by a mall and lots of open fields. There are coyotes and hawks and owls. Volunteers were out posting flyers and searching all week. It was so damn hot on Monday when I was out...
